WHAT IS DERMAL FILLERS?
Dermal filler is used to add volume to skin, particularly in areas around the nose and mouth. An immediate and lasting option to help combat the signs of aging while restoring a youthful appearance, facial fillers are used to smoothen fine lines, wrinkles and restore volume lost due to aging and weight loss.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Do not use this product if you have a history of severe allergic reactions or allergies to lidocaine.
BENEFITS
Dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic acid which is a natural sugar occurring throughout the human body. It serves various functions, including lubricating the muscles, joints and other movable parts of the body. As we age, our skin loses natural sugars (including hyaluronic acid) and proteins, leading to a reduction in subcutaneous tissue and loss in moisture, resulting in wrinkles, folds, sagging skin and loss of facial volume. When not bound to other molecules, it binds to water; this gives it a stiff viscous gel-like quality. Because of its hydrophilic (water-loving) molecules, hyaluronic acid can be described as “nature’s moisturiser”, and is an essential ingredient in many cosmetic products and treatments.
These dermal fillers are injected into targeted areas of facial tissue to correct age-related beauty concerns, such as wrinkles, folds, laugh lines, sagging cheekbones, thin lips, gaunt appearance, dark eye circles and loss of facial volume.
EXPECTED RESULTS
Results are visible immediately after treatment. The enhancements will look very natural and can last up to 2 years.
However, results will vary from patient to patient depending on age, skin type, health condition and the course of treatments prescribed.
PROCEDURE
During consultation, do provide your doctor with any pertinent information on your medical history, pre-existing medical and health conditions, and medication and/or supplements you are currently consuming. The doctor will review your skin condition, take you through your available options, and design a personalised course of treatment for optimal results.
The procedure involves the administration of injections, and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. A topical numbing cream (anaesthetic) will be applied to treatment area before an injection is administered, minimising any pain or discomfort.
AFTER TREATMENT
There is no or minimal downtime involved. Potential side effects include redness, pain, swelling and itching, which could occur immediately or be delayed, and may last for a week. Consult your doctor if any symptom persists for more than a week.
